Mitsubishi: since 1991 rigged emissions tests

The group confirms the scoop from the Nikkei business newspaper – The models affected could be "several dozen", but the manipulations do not concern vehicles sold outside Japan – The stock has lost almost 10% on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, thus halving its share value in the last five sessions.

Mitsubishi: since 1991 rigged emissions tests

A scandal breaks out at Mitsubishi that threatens to make Volkswagen's Dieselgate pale. The Japanese auto giant has admitted to having manipulated emissions test data since 1991. The rumors, initially reported by the business newspaper Nikkei, were later confirmed by the group.

On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the stock has lost almost 10%, thus halving its value in the last five sessions.

According to the afternoon edition of Nikkei, Mitsubishi Motors has been using inappropriate emission test methods since the early 2013s, not since XNUMX, as initially claimed by the group.

The newspaper also speaks of "several dozen" of affected models and not just four models of minicars. So far, however, the case officially affects only 625 minicars, including 468 Nissan-branded.

However, the executives of the Japanese company, the sixth largest vehicle manufacturer in the country, have specified that at the moment they have not detected manipulations on vehicles sold outside Japan: the tests conducted in Europe, the United States and much of Asia were correct.
