It starts again in Northern Italy reorganization of TV frequencies on digital terrestrial. In order to continue watching the television programs that interest citizens, it will be enough to re-tune their decoders and/or their TVs.
According to the provisions of the Ministry of Economic Development Valle d'Aosta, Lombardy (excluding the province of Mantua), Piedmont and the provinces of Trento, Bolzano and Piacenza will be affected from 3 January to 9 March while the province of Mantua, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Emilia-Romagna will be affected from 9 February to 14 March. The reorganization had already begun in Sardinia on 15 November and will end on 4 January with Rai 1, Rai 2, Rai 3 TGR Regionale and Rai News.
March 8, 2022 will come Mpeg-2 transmission coding has been decommissioned and will activate Mpeg-4 coding on the DVBT standard and will allow those who own a television set capable of supporting this technology to see programs in higher quality. Until the end of 2022, however, national TV stations will have the option of continuing to broadcast in both encodings, although the first 9 channels will be broadcast exclusively in the new encoding.
Citizens who will be forced to change their television or buy a decoder will be able to take advantage of the money made available by the Market, whose resources were expanded in the 2022 budget law, to which another 68 million euros were allocated.
Thanks to the collaboration of the Ministry of Economic Development and Poste Italiane Spa, afacilitation for the elderly over 70 with an income of less than 20.000 euros, the delivery of the decoders directly to the home. The Mise has already started a collaboration with the regions involved in the reorganization of frequencies in order to be able to reach all the municipalities concerned and communicate the change of frequencies.
