They were activated in Italy in March 641.572 new contracts, of which 381.234 on fixed-term contracts, 162.498 on permanent contracts, 16.844 on apprenticeships, 36.460 on collaborations and 44.536 on other types. The terminations were instead 549.273, so the balance was positive by over 92 thousand units. These are the numbers released this morning by the Ministry of Labour. The data are net of domestic work and public administration and come from the information system of compulsory communications of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policies.

The months of waiting for workers with expired contracts are on average 39,3, equal to over three years, a marked increase compared to the same month in 2014 (27,2). Istat communicated it.

At the end of March, 35 contracts were in force which concerned the remuneration of approximately 5,5 million employees, 39,9% of the total wage bill. In the private sector the incidence was equal to 54,7%, with shares differentiated by economic activity: in the agricultural sector it is 100%, while it is 97,2% in industry and 13,8% in private services.

The share of employees awaiting renewal for the economy as a whole it is equal to 56,9%, unchanged compared to the previous month. The average wait calculated on total employees is 22,4 months, up on the previous year (16,8).

With reference to the private sector alone, the share of employees awaiting renewal is equal to 44,4%, unchanged compared to the previous month and a marked decrease compared to March 2014 (50,7%). The months of waiting for employees with expired contracts are 23,7, while the average wait is 10,5 months considering all employees in the sector.
