Mini-amnesty on tax bills: the Government is studying the hypothesis

In dreams there is the pardon. In reality, for the moment, taxpayers who have joined the scrapping ter of the tax bills and others balance and excerpt they have more time to pay. How much is not yet known. The February 28 deadline has been extended in extremis by the Ministry of Economy, which however has not yet set a new deadline. Rumors speak of an extra month, at most two. The postponement avoided a blockage: if it hadn't arrived, from March 1,2, 2020 million Italians would have had to pay all the suspended installments in 2021 plus the first one of XNUMX.

Meanwhile, in the archives of the Revenue Agency - Collection remain blocked about 54 million tax assessments. The documents have been blocked for a year due to the pandemic and should soon be sent again. Also in this case, the first notifications should have been sent on March XNUMXst, but the operation is still stalled. The problem is organize the sorting gradually, in order not to overwhelm Italians with unpaid bills, given that the restrictions related to Covid are far from over and the risk of triggering manifestations of social anger should not be underestimated.

Also for this reason, the hypothesis of a mini-amnesty, i.e. an excerpt from the documents under 5 thousand euros (the most numerous). The total forgiveness it would only happen on the deeds prior to 2015: in the other cases, the debt should be paid, but without the overload of penalties and default interest. Attention: these are only hypotheses, and it is not said at all – indeed, it seems unlikely – that Mario Draghi you agree to tie your name to a tax amnesty. Perhaps more will be known with the green light to the Sostegni decree.   

As for finally the new tax bills, the Ristori decree established that to pay those up to 100 thousand euros you have 60 days of time and that within the same deadline you can request the deferment of the debt up to 72 installments. Beyond the threshold of 100 thousand euros, the request for installments must be accompanied by documentation certifying the state of economic difficulty.
