Milan, UBI opens the Piccolo to children and rewards actresses

From the season of the Teatro Piccolo in Milan dedicated to children, to the Eleonora Duse theater prize, dedicated to theater actresses, UBI Banca's commitment to the world of culture continues. Tonight, Monday 26 November, UBI Banca is organizing and sponsoring, together with the Banca Popolare di Vigevano Foundation and the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, the awards ceremony of the 32nd edition of the award dedicated to women theater actresses, already won in the past by names from the caliber of Mariangela Melato, Alida Valli, Franca Valeri, Milena Vukotic and which this year was assigned to Giuliana Lojodice. But before that, last Saturday, UBI Banca has inaugurated the new season of the Piccolo Teatro di Milano dedicated to children, families and schools, with offers from 3 to 12 years, created thanks to the bank's contribution. The initiative, which kicks off the calendar that will run until June 2019, was presented through the show "Benvenuti al Piccolo", which has been accompanying young spectators in the backstage of the historic Milanese theater for over fifteen years.

“Like UBI Banca – he commented Riccardo Tramezzani, Head of the Milan-Emilia Romagna UBI Banca Macro Territorial Area – we particularly care about the link with the Piccolo Teatro in Milan, because it is a very important institution for culture, in Milan and beyond. UBI is a member of the Theater Hall of Fame and this year we have decided to support the season of shows dedicated to children, young people and schools. It is a very rich season and always very popular, which we wish to join as an opportunity to be closer to families and their projects. Fostering the interest of the young generations in artistic expressions such as the theatre, and in collaboration with a prestigious protagonist of the Milanese scene such as the Piccolo, in fact, is a way of offering our contribution to the social development of the community with which we interface everyday".

The first appointment of the season, after the inaugural show on Saturday 24th, will be in the middle of the Christmas period, with the puppets of the Carlo Colla & Sons Company who present Aladdin's lamp (Teatro Studio, from 27 December to 6 January) and who will then return, in the spring, with another classic of children's literature, Treasure Island, in its world premiere (Teatro Grassi, from 12 to 23 June). Furthermore, from January and until the summer, in the spaces of the Teatro Studio and the Magic Box, the scene will be entirely for children and teenagers, in a playful plot interwoven with the subtle and enchanted threads of fairy tales, the rough and compelling ones of history, the arcane ones of myth and the strong and indissoluble ones of the word of the classics, read, re-read, interpreted, updated, even sung. here is the complete program of shows: there are also Leonardo's flight, Sophocles' Antigone, the Iliad, Romeo and Juliet, Alice in Wonderland and other classics adapted to the enjoyment of a very young and family audience.

UBI Banca's commitment to culture is not only linked to the Piccolo Teatro but also to other initiatives, such as support for the Teatro alla Scala Foundation, of which UBI is a founding member. The bank also supports the Teatro Olimpico in Rome, the Fraschini Theater Foundation in Pavia and the concert activity of Lingotto Musica in Turin. Various initiatives have recently been supported in the territories in which UBI Banca is most deeply rooted, such as for example the International Piano Festival of Brescia and Bergamo, the Food Film Fest of Bergamo, the Musicultura Festival of Macerata and the Ravello Festival. UBI Banca is also involved in reorganizing the artistic heritage with the aim of increasing its usability, enhancing its contents and enhancing the opportunities for relationship with the public. To this end, the new website is now online UBI Banca artdedicated to enhancing the artistic heritage and the UBI Banca collection, as well as promoting the main cultural initiatives supported by the Bank. The site promotes events, exhibitions and cultural projects curated or supported by UBI Banca, as well as making part of the Bank's art collection usable.
