Milan, Sgrappa and go! Maurizio Cattelan gives life to the temporary bar (with an artist's hand)

Maurizio Cattelan. the iconoclast artist of the middle finger of Piazza Affari launches Sgrappa and go! an impromptu format for the promotion of brandy with over a hundred years of history, to be rediscovered and re-evaluated in a new modern key. You don't enter a shop but a hand comes out of a wall to deliver the precious bottle to whoever bought it.

Milan, Sgrappa and go! Maurizio Cattelan gives life to the temporary bar (with an artist's hand)

Extemporaneous opening in Milan at the end of May of "Sgrappa e via!", the pop-up bar on the Navigli, the Milanese nightlife area, for a toast in the name of good grappa. Fruit of the creativity of the Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan together with friends Paolo Dalla Mora and Charley Vezza, Sgrappa is a distillate that wants to go outside the box. The real peculiarity of the event is that it will be possible to collect what has been ordered through a small marble window on the walls overlooking Ripa di Porta Ticinese, from which a "mysterious" hand will emerge with the cocktail on duty. It is therefore not a real bar with a counter, tables, chairs and bartenders, but a real take-away revolution as we know it.

An innovative product made in Piedmont, with a strong spirit, but only apparently. Sgrappa is made with pomace from red grapes, rich in perfumes, worked with small copper discontinuous steam jet stills. Thus we find the aroma of fruit and white flowers, where the scent of grape skins emerges on the finish, embellishing the taste of this distillate but leaving it, at the same time, clean and light. Excellent to be enjoyed on its own, preferably at the base of various mixes, for example with tonic water or pink grapefruit juice or in drink recipes Sgrappa al Salto, Sgrappa Tonic and Sgrappa Sour, the Sgrappino, and then the Fuck You, Fuck You Too and Fuck on the Beach, which are inspired by the famous sculpture by Cattelan in Piazza Affari in Milan, or the "middle finger", also depicted on the bottle of the distillate.

The Italian artist who loves puns, ironic and provocative has created an innovative, fun and contemporary format. Like the tagline "Name of the father, finger and spirit”, once again Maurizio Cattelan did not disappoint. One can love, one can be indignant or irritated, but Cattelan's art cannot go unnoticed. Among his most iconic works: the middle finger in Piazza Affari, the stolen golden toilet bowl, the banana hung on the wall with adhesive tape, Eternity the cemetery with the tombs of artists from the history of art (including that by Cattelan himself).

"There is a message in the bottle, which can work for everyone, for those you love, but basically also for those who are a little pissed off" – he explained Maurizio Cattelan -.It's the perfect gift to give and one you may never want to receive”.
