Milan, Salone del Mobile 2022 postponed to June due to Covid

A two-month postponement, from April to June, to put one of the toughest periods of the pandemic behind us and encourage the arrival of international exhibitors and audiences

Milan, Salone del Mobile 2022 postponed to June due to Covid

The Salone del Mobile in Milan has been postponed. The fair, one of the most anticipated events of the year for the international design sector, was scheduled for April. Too early to contain the risks deriving from the diffusion of the Omicron variant in Italy and in the rest of Europe. The board of Federlegno-Arredo Eventi with Fiera Milano has therefore decided to postpone the event by two months, moving it in June, from 7 to 12.

The decision had been in the air for days, but now it's also official. “The decision to postpone the event will allow exhibitors, visitors, journalists and the entire international furniture and design community to make the most of the potential of an exhibition that this year will be full of novelties and in complete safety. who, in addition to celebrating an important birthday, will focus on the theme of sustainability, acting as a stage for the progress made in this area by creatives, designers and companies,” he explained Maria Porro, president of the Salone del Mobile.

“The June date will also favor a strong presence of foreign exhibitors and operators, which has always been the strong point of the Show, and will guarantee the participating companies the right time to better plan their presence at the fair which, as we know, requires months of preparation, from conception to the final set-up. The desire for the Salone is growing stronger, which is why we are working on an event that will offer everyone the chance to have a unique, concrete and exciting experience. We all have a great desire for the Salone”, concluded Porro.

After the cancellation established in 2020 and the Supersalone held in September 2021, for the 60th edition the intention of the organizers is to go big. Two more months, this is the hope, will allow not only more time for preparations, but also to overcome the emergency period and favor the arrival of the international public.

“Given the evolution of the pandemic situation, the XNUMXth edition of the Salone del Mobile was postponed by two months. A decision that will allow it carrying out the fair in total safety and, to all buyers, not only Italian and European, to see live the best of the creations of design companies whose high participation demonstrates how much the sector recognizes the great value of the event in terms of positioning and business. Preserving the international value of the Salone del Mobile, the most important design fair in the world which has its core business precisely in exports, in fact means allowing our companies to meet existing and potential customers, creating the conditions for our exports to continue to grow,” he commented Claudio Feltrin, president of FederlegnoArredo
