The banks save Piazza Affari, the only list on the rise. The other European Stock Exchanges all show slightly negative changes: the London Stock Exchange fell by 0,44%, Paris -0,46%, Frankfurt -0,25%. In Europe, all the Stoxx sector indices finished down, with the exception of banks (+0,3%) and the automotive (+0,1%).
Also the American Stock Exchange marks a slight increase thanks to the boost from technology stocks, in particular Amazon +1,7% to 680 euros, a record high. The Dow Jones index rose by 0,1%, S&P500 +0,2% and Nasdaq +0,3%. On Wall Street, the worst blue chip is Pfizer, down 2,9%. The pharmaceutical company today announced the acquisition of Allergan, an all-paper deal worth $160 billion. This is the most important merger in the history of pharmaceutical companies. Allergan shares lose 2,6%.
Investors are preparing for the next rate hike in the US, while the president of the ECB, Mario Draghi, repeats that the European Central Bank will not hesitate to intervene to give new prospects for growth. The result is a new weakening of the euro at 1,060 against the dollar, a seven-month low.
Oil, down in the morning, has recovered all the decline and is now showing moderate gains: Brent rises by 1,2% to 65,2 dollars a barrel, Wti to 42,2 dollars (+0,7%).
A Business Square shines Unicredit +1,4%: the chairman Giuseppe Vita purchased 200.000 shares on the market for a value of around 1,1 million euro. The purchase took place on 19 November at a price of 5,5408 euros per share. Intesa gains 1% Monte Paschi +2,2%, Strong increases also for Mediobanca +2,1%, Pop.Milano +2,6%, Pop.Emilia +2,4% and Ubi +1,9%.
