Giuseppe Sala, 58, former commissioner of the Expo, will be the candidate for mayor of Milan for the centre-left. sala won the primaries of the Lombard capital in which 60.900 voters took part, collecting 42,2% against 33,9% of the deputy mayor Francesca Balzani and 20% of the outgoing councilor Majorino.
"I feel happy: it's an important responsibility" commented Sala who urged everyone "to go forward united" to win the Milanese elections in June. Balzani and Majorino echoed him: "They were beautiful primaries: now we will work together".
Prime Minister Matteo Renzi congratulated Sala and all the Milanese Democratic Party, who did not miss the opportunity to take a dig at Beppe Grillo: "Those who choose candidates with 50 clicks criticize our primaries".
Now he is waiting to know the centre-right candidate who, according to the latest rumors should be – but without a primary – the former director general of Confindustria, Stefano Parisi.
