A new manager is knocking on the doors of the Milanese shared car business. We are talking about Twist, a Milanese company whose project will be evaluated in tomorrow's tender commission session at Palazzo Marino. Short of failing the final exam, a first batch of 100 Volkswagen Up! it will be in the streets of Milan as early as mid-April. The rate should be 27 cents a minute.
In addition to that of Twist, the DriveNow plan will also pass the scrutiny of Palazzo Marino, which contains the model already tested by BMW in Germany with the Mini. In any case, the Italian leadership of Milan in car sharing will eventually strengthen further, bringing the active managers to six. The Lombard capital boasts better performances, in this area, even than Paris and Berlin.
The objective of the new consortium, declared by the president Paolo Guaitamacchi, is to reach "At least 40-50 thousand subscribers and a balanced budget at the end of the year". At present, 1.400 cars for car sharing are already circulating in Milan. With the new ones, at least 600 Minis and 500 Up!, the number will rise to 2.500, exceeding the 2 threshold deemed satisfactory by the Municipality's announcement.
