At 18.30 the Mass of the day of San Lorenzo will be celebrated, particularly solemnized by the presence of four trumpets approached to the historic organ of the Basilica.
The evening concert sees the brass as protagonists to give life to a particularly suggestive musical programme. Indeed, the instrumentalists of the Accademia Sancti Satyri Mediolani propose a program-comparison which foresees a decidedly Baroque first part (performed therefore with natural trumpets, copy of originals) followed by a second painting dedicated, instead, to the 1884th century (with instruments of the time). The dialogue with the organ follows the entire development of the program with the proposal of some solo pieces that highlight the beauty and timbre richness of this precious symphonic instrument from XNUMX, one of a kind.
The appointment of 10 August is a tradition consolidated over time and takes place in a period in which the city is now decidedly on vacation.
This year the summer event in San Lorenzo acquires a particular meaning because the Cultural Center of the Basilicas is presented and inaugurated on this occasion. It is a body promoted and shared by the parishes of the Torino Ticinese axis, starting from San Lorenzo and including San Giorgio, Sant'Alessandro and San Satiro. The four basilicas with their territory and their preciousness represent an important portion of the historical and artistic heritage of the city. This new cultural center was created with the precise intention of working together for the promotion of Christian culture and for the analysis and development of the central area of Milan in continuous transformation.
