Milan, Castellani's "red surface" auction

Appointment with the Modern and Contemporary Art auction of the Il Ponte Auction House on December 6th, in the halls of Palazzo Crivelli – Interview with Freddy Battino.

Milan, Castellani's "red surface" auction

An appointment of attraction for collectors, enthusiasts and the curious who, after the records achieved by numerous artists in previous auctions and the constant growth trend of modern and contemporary art, promises to be particularly interesting.

Almost a month before the auction, the director of the department, Dr. Freddy Battino, busy closing the catalog that will be online in the next few days, offers FIRSTonline some previews in this interview.

FIRSTonline – What will be the "common thread" of the next auction?

BATTINO – Also in this auction we try to maintain continuity in proposing historicized artists, but still with wide margins for revaluation, and to "anticipate the wave" as done in previous auctions: ITALIAN ABSTRACTION, POETRY will therefore be well represented VISIVA, ITALIAN AND INTERNATIONAL INFORMAL ART OF THE SECOND POST WAR.

FIRSTonline – After the 7 records of the June auction which are the artists who, from your experience, could still achieve good results?

BATTINO – All the artists we choose, presented at the right time and in the right way, can achieve excellent results, as seen in previous auctions.

FIRSTonline – Do you think that the purchase of modern and contemporary works of art could be a concrete investment alternative for those looking for safe-haven assets in times of financial turbulence?

BATTINO – Investing in quality works of art, particularly in modern and contemporary art, not only protects capital in times of financial uncertainty, but also allows investors to enjoy them aesthetically.

FIRSTonline – Who are the most internationally appreciated "local" artists?

BATTINO – The artists most appreciated and sought after by collectors at the moment are Scarpitta, Castellani, Burri, Fontana, Pistoletto, Stingel, Boetti, Schifano, Manzoni, Rotella, Fabro, Kounellis, A. Pomodoro, Morandi, Bonalumi. Melotti

FIRSTonline – Can you tell us which works and by which artists will be offered at auction on December 6?

BATTINO – By Enrico Castellani in particular the acrylic on everted canvas from 2006 “Superficie rossa”; by Giorgio Morandi a beautiful "Still life", watercolor from 1963. By Afro a "Zona fence" from 1967, a work already exhibited at the anthological exhibition held at Palazzo Reale in 1992.

Also in this auction sculpture is represented in many of its expressive forms and with different materials: by Fausto Melotti stands out "Antiscultura", a unique example in brass and enamelled ceramic executed in 1972; by Bruno Munari “Red folding sculpture” from 1951, a unique example in painted sheet metal; still, by Lucio Fontana the pair of sculptures in polished bronze from 1967 "Concetto Spaziale, Natura" and a "Madonna with child" in glazed ceramic stand out. Piero Manzoni is also represented with one of the icons of 1961th century avant-garde art: "Merda d'artista", the provocative jar from XNUMX.

In addition to these mentioned, there will be many rare and interesting works that will be revealed in the catalog in a few days
