Milan, the Municipality becomes a museum

From 2 June Palazzo Marino, the historic seat of the municipality of Milan, will open four new rooms previously closed to the public and will be transformed into a "Palazzo Museo" thanks to the partnership signed with Bpm. The goal is to reach 10 visitors in 2015. Audio guides will be set up in ten languages, the main entrance to Piazza Scala will be reopened (easier for the disabled), a reception point on the ground floor, a free app (dedicated to children) in Italian, English and French.

“Palazzo Marino has always been the home of the Milanese, a beautiful place full of history and art, which can already be visited today. There are, in fact, thousands of people, most of them students, who enter to discover the Palazzo from a cultural point of view, but also to see and understand how the city government works, passing through the council room or the council chamber", he commented the mayor of Milan, Giuliano Pisapia.

"Visiting Palazzo Marino with new rooms open to the public and getting to know its treasures is a unique opportunity - he added - which can also be achieved thanks to the fruitful collaboration between public and private institutions, a path we are following with very positive results for everyone ”.

On 2 June, the building will be open from 10 to 20 for the Republic Day, with performances by the local police band and the civic wind orchestra. On this occasion, the new rooms will also be opened, in addition to the usual Sala Alessi, hall of the municipal council, Sala dell'Urbanistica, Sala Gialla, Sala Verde – Marra, courtyard of honour, and then on the first floor the Loggiato and Sala dell 'Clock.

The visits, from 3 June, will last 45 minutes with a guide and audio guide (English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Japanese, modern standard Arabic, in addition of course to Italian). They will take place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, without reservation, five times a day, at the following times: 9.30, 10.30, 11.30, 14.00, 15.00.
