Milan, Carlo Levi "painter" at the Silva Gallery

After more than forty years of absence, seventeen works by the twentieth century painter, writer and politician will be exhibited at the Silva Gallery in via Borgospesso 12.

From the 1 at October 30 2020, Galleria Silva, specialized in ancient art, will host – compatibly with current health regulations – the exhibition Carlo Levi Painter. The exhibition, originally scheduled from 12 March to 11 April, will bring back to the Lombard capital, after 40 years of absence, 17 pictorial works of one of the most representative and multifaceted personalities of the twentieth century. The artist and intellectual from Turin, author of Christ stopped at Eboli, was a tireless thinker, who moved with extreme fluency from page to canvas, from public debate to verses.

The Carlo Levi Pittore exhibition reconstructs the artist's evolution, from the XNUMXs, when he was still under the influence of Felice Casorati, to the years of his initiatory journey to the French capital, to the period of his very personal form of pictorial expressionism, an uninterrupted story of places of emotional ties and cultural experiences. “The Carlo Levi Painter exhibition will be the first exhibition we will host after the emergency and the reopening of the gallery - he says Lucia Silva, curator – “In such a complex moment, we are honored to start again with a multifaceted intellectual, endowed with great intelligence, sensitivity and vital energy, capable of adapting to any situation and feeling at ease in any place, thus revealing his passion for life, for human beings, for nature. Superb storyteller of life, travel and politics, he allows us to know and retrace recent history with all its contradictions. In his truly vast pictorial production, the affirmation of freedom and love is evident, a love for an instinctive and profound pictorial gesture, sometimes delicate and other times vigorous, but always poetic".
