Milan, Banca Generali and the Indonesian street artist: Farhan Siki exhibition

The Traces exhibition, curated by Rifky Effendi, offers a cycle of works specially designed for this appointment, in which Farhan Siki draws on the most recognizable and famous icons of Western art history, from The Last Supper to Leonardo's Vitruvian Man , from Michelangelo's Adam and Eve to the experiences of the Bauhaus, and reworks them with a contemporary sensibility and technique.

Since his inception, Farhan Siki has reflected on XNUMXst century pop culture, exploring its textual elements, collecting logos, brands and symbols of mass culture, in order to affix them to the canvas, loading them with hyperbolic and parodistic attributes and expressing an internal satire contemporary art system. The urban experience and globalized consumption are transformed into his works in a triumph of colour.

In his most famous series: "Mu (War) kami", against a background composed of the logos that Takashi Murakami designed for Louis Vuitton, Farhan Siki crowds scenes of fights between men, war planes, rifles and machine guns, as in remember that, despite the lightness of a commercial message, we must not forget that there is something deeper, which is impossible to ignore.

Even Andy Warhol's Marilyn loses her face and her perfect beauty mask, showing how many other popular icons are part of this controversial contemporary stage.

"We are happy to host a young artist of great talent and great curiosities like Farhan Siki" - declares Piermario Motta, Chief Executive Officer of Banca Generali - "His ability to express energy, reflections and to best represent that tension towards renewal in the art as an expression of social and contemporary phenomena, does not leave one indifferent, immediately striking for its immediacy and artistic evocation. After having explored the material nuances of color, the universe of nature in the expressiveness of digital, we are proud to continue our journey towards the world of art with a new original and unedited idea capable of moving us in its confrontation and expressiveness aimed at absoluteness of the concept of icon. As with our latest exhibitions, we believe in the dialogue of art also through new spaces, and in the commitment of the client to support culture as the cradle of ideas that moves the world”.
