The underground station of Milan's central station has been evacuated due to a bomb threat. A suspicious package was allegedly found at the stop on the M2 line in the direction of Abbiategrasso.

The alarm stopped at 18,20. The circulation of trains on the M2 and M3 lines of the Milan underground resumed regularly, while there were no repercussions on railway traffic.

According to preliminary information, the alarm would have been triggered shortly before 17 pm, with the signaling of the presence of a suspicious package inside the stop. According to the first rumors it was just a box with a battery and electrical circuits inside. There was no explosive inside, but it wouldn't be an ordinary package left behind by a traveller.

38 local police patrols immediately arrived on the spot to provide for the evacuation and block traffic.

The Milan Central subway stop was evacuated "at the request of the Police Headquarters", said the Councilor for Security of the Municipality, Carmela Rozza. "We do not want to cause any alarmism but only to implement the safety rules so that the bomb squad can arrive and verify the suspicious package". "We hope that it is an episode of distraction by a citizen" continued the commissioner, recalling that it is the fourth or fifth "episode of this type. It happens with departures for the holidays”.
