Milan, Inter and Roma at the small test: lineups and TV for the midweek shift

Milan face Sassuolo away, Inter receive Cremonese and Roma host Monza: apparently three easy matches for the big names but the pitfall lies in taking victory for granted

Milan, Inter and Roma at the small test: lineups and TV for the midweek shift

Another round, another run. Not even the time to file away the third day which is already time to think about the fourth, scheduled between today, tomorrow and Thursday in what will be the first midweek of the season. We start immediately with three big names in the field, that is Milan, Inter and Rome, engaged with Sassuolo, Cremonese and Monza: interim challenges, at least in appearance, but precisely for this reason not to be mistaken for any reason, otherwise you risk losing ground in the standings.

Sassuolo-Milan (18.30, Dazn)

Pioli's Rossoneri will open the round, returning to the Mapei Stadium exactly 100 days after the Scudetto on 23 May. This time the stakes are different, God forbid, but the points are starting to weigh, especially since there will be the derby on Saturday and the Devil would like to get there by looking down on cousins. The sine qua non condition, barring clamorous surprises from San Siro, is therefore to win, even if the latest news from Milanello will make theThe turnover project is impossible initially expected.

Sassuolo-Milan, the formations

The idea, in fact, provided for a rest shift for Leao, Giroud, De Ketelaere and Messias, but only the last two will be able to do it: Rebic's injuries (back) e Origi (inflammation) will force the Portuguese and French to work overtime. However, Pioli will also rotate men in the other departments, for a 4-2-3-1 different than usual with Maignan in goal, Florenzi, Kjaer, Tomori and Hernandez in defence, Bennacer and Pobega in midfield, Saelemaekers, Diaz and Leao behind the lone striker Giroud. Classic 4-3-3 instead for Dionisi's Sassuolo, who will respond with Consigli between the posts, Toljan, Erlic, Ferrari and Rogerio in the back department, Frattesi, Lopez and Thorstvedt in the midfield, Berardi, Pinamonti and Kyriakopoulos in attack.

Inter-Cremonese (20.45, Dazn)

Soon after it will be Inter's turn, engaged at San Siro against the newly promoted Cremonese. The match does not seem to present particular pitfalls, but the recent defeat of Rome certainly makes it more delicate: another misstep, after the one on Friday, would be difficult management for Inzaghi, already attacked from many sides both for training and for changes. This with Alvini's team, then, is the last "affordable" challenge before the decidedly tougher derby-Bayern duo, which is why a victory is almost obligatory.

However, the Nerazzurri will have to get up without Lukaku, whose tests confirmed the initial sensations: the Belgian, stopped in training due to a distraction of the flexors of his left thigh, will have to stay still for at least three weeks, so much so that the most probable return is after the national break on 17-18 September. A big problem for Inzaghi, forced to do without his striker for four league games and two in the Champions League, obviously starting tonight, where we will see several changes compared to Rome. The usual 3-5-2, in fact, will leave room for a more experimental one with Handanovic in goal, Skriniar, De Vrij and Bastoni in defense, Dumfries, Barella, Asllani, Calhanoglu and Gosens in midfield, Lautaro and Dzeko in attack. Little to lose for Alvini's Cremonese, who, however, will try with a 3-4-1-2 with Radu in goal, Aiwu, Bianchetti and Lochoshvili in the back, Ghiglione, Escalante, Ascacìbar and Valeri in the midfield, Zanimacchia behind the offensive duo formed by Okereke and Dessers .

Rome-Monza (20.45 pm, Dazn)

To complete the Tuesday picture will be Mourinho's Roma, expected from the home match against Stroppa's Monza. Here too the same argument made previously for Inter is valid, in the sense that the Giallorossi cannot fail against the Brianza players, otherwise the doubts fueled by Turin's performance (certainly not the result) would increase dramatically. Mou's team, so far, has however given a good impression, especially in the challenges with Salernitana and Cremonese, which is why it is reasonable to expect a confirmation this evening too, in an Olimpico that is sold out as usual.

Rome-Monza, the formations

Even the Portuguese coach, just like his colleagues Pioli and Inzaghi, will take advantage of the midweek shift to some turnover, even if limited by the absences of Wijnaldum and Zaniolo, as well as by the precarious form of Belotti, called up but only for the bench. Compared to Turin there should be only two changes on the outside, with Karsdorp and Spinazzola who will leave room for Celik and Zalewski. The Giallorossi 3-4-2-1 will thus see Rui Patricio in goal, Mancini, Smalling and Ibanez in defense, Celik, Cristante, Matic and Zalewski in midfield, Dybala and Pellegrini behind the lone striker Abraham.

The Monza of Stroppa, last at zero points (like Cremonese, but with a worse goal difference), will try the coup with the usual 3-5-2, therefore Di Gregorio between the posts, Marrone, Pablo Marì and Caldirola in the back department, Birindelli, Pessina, Sensi, Valoti and Carlos Augusto in the median, Caprari and Petagna in attack.
