Milan, who will be the owner? Yellow on Li and repayment to Elliott

Today, Friday 6 July, is the day of truth for Milan. By midnight the Chinese owner Yonghong Li must repay the Elliot fund 32 of the millions paid as a capital increase, otherwise - after rejecting Rocco Commisso's offer - he would lose everything and from next Monday Milan football would end up in the hands of the US fund. At the moment, however, the scenario that foresees the non-repayment and the transfer of the Rossoneri to Elliott seems rather unlikely: sources close to the fund quoted by Corriere della Sera in fact deny that Li has asked for a 48-hour extension for payment. Instead, he would be willing to pay by today, Friday 6 July.

For sure, though, there are just a few – indeed, very few – hours left to provide proof of the financial transaction. Commisso, like him, is convinced that Li played a very dangerous game, trying to snatch better conditions in the negotiation with him. And, above all, the American tycoon is convinced that Li does not have the 32 million and, therefore, risks leaving the club to Elliott without having allowed the transaction with other possible buyers However, the Corriere always speaks of a Mister X, a new Asian investor (yet another…), who would be negotiating with Li in complete secrecy. We will know everything by today.

The Rossoneri fans, for their part, are understandably worried: the uncertainty comes precisely at a key moment, while the transfer market is raging and the new season needs to be planned. However, there is already some movement, awaiting clearing up on the corporate front: AC Milan have reached an agreement with striker Simone Zaza, for 2,5 million per season. Zaza will in fact replace the Croatian Kalinic, unloaded after a flop season and also kicked out of his national team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia: we are talking about Atletico Madrid for him.
