Milan, Berlusconi fires Mihajlovic: bench to Brocchi

Despite the good performance offered by Milan against Juve, Berlusconi can't resist the temptation to change and liquidate Mihajlovic with whom there had never been an understanding brocchi

Milan, Berlusconi fires Mihajlovic: bench to Brocchi

Sinisa Mihajlovic's era ends here. The official announcement will only arrive this morning but there are no more doubts now: the Serbian coach is no longer the coach of Milan. In place of him, as has been rumored for some time now, Christian Brocchi arrives, until yesterday Primavera coach and from today on the bench of the "grown-ups" (at 15 pm he will direct the first training session). A lightning-fast decision, not to say surprising, if only because the match against Juve, however lost, had left the image of a team recovering, both from a technical and mental point of view.

Evidently, however, Silvio Berlusconi did not think the same way: in fact, it was he himself who decided for Mihajlovic's exemption, testifying to a relationship now at loggerheads and, evidently, having reached the end of the line. The idea had been whirling in the president's head for several weeks and Saturday's defeat (the third in the last 5 games) meant that it took shape in an anonymous Monday evening, at least in appearance. Instead, that would not have been the case at all was understood at 20.20, when a car carrying Brocchi and his deputy Lazzarini crossed the gates of Villa San Martino.

And when Adriano Galliani joined the group a few minutes later, the turnaround became reality. Three hours (exactly) to determine what to do, a real summit with Milan at the center of everything. The goal is to end the season in the best possible way, or rather by raising the Italian Cup in the final against Juventus without neglecting the championship, perhaps the simplest way to get to the Europa League.

Brocchi will thus have 7 games (6 + 1) to raise Milan from the current mediocrity, as well as to convince Berlusconi to confirm him also for the future. This is by no means a figure of speech: his contract expires in June and yesterday there was no talk of renewal at all. The president's message is loud and clear: show your worth and you will lead the "real" Milan for the whole of next year, vice versa each one going his way.

A rather arduous task for the former midfielder, not even the much more highly rated iron sergeant Mihajlovic succeeded. Who from today officially joins the Rossoneri luxury unemployed group, a club that is little envied (in terms of work, of course) which already includes Seedorf and Inzaghi, the other two debutants launched (and burned) by Berlusconi. A common saying states that all good things come in threes: Christian Brocchi, let's be clear, is authorized to cast spells…
