Migrants, Viminale: Rome should do more

The controversies on the issue of migrants continue after that the mayor of Rome Virginia Raggi has called for a moratorium on arrivals. Today came the harsh reply from the Interior Ministry, which replies that there is no emergency and indeed that the numbers in Rome must necessarily increase. “Rome must do its part – reads the response published by the group's newspaper L'Espresso -. It can accommodate 2000 more refugees. According to the quotas agreed with the Anci, the capital with its province could still welcome two thousand refugees. Milan and its hinterland can reach 5000, Rome and the province must find a place for two thousand more migrants".

Luigi Di Maio, however, counterattacks: "Minniti has not understood in which country he is: he must lend us a hand and if he says otherwise, he, the Democratic Party and the Government are out of this world". The secretary of the Pd Matteo Renzi also intervened on the case: "After the slap at the administrative offices, the M5S invented a nice attack on immigrants and Roma and so: all the front pages of the newspapers stop talking about the flop at the administrative offices and wallow on their turn to the right".

In the meantime, the EU is launching the infringement proceedings for Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic on the missed relocations, Juncker assures: "The EU and the Member States support Greece and Italy".
