Migrants, Salvini flop: less "clandestine" repatriation than Minniti

Surprise on migrants: Matteo Salvini has repatriated fewer people than Marco Minniti. According to data from the Interior Ministry, between June and August the current interior minister brought back 1296 migrants to their country, less than the 1506 repatriated by his predecessor in the same period last year.

In detail, this year the government managed to repatriate 445 people in June, 423 in July and 428 in August. Last year, however, 502 people were returned to their countries of origin in June, 469 in July and 535 in August.

Not only that: this trend is confirmed in September too. As of September 16, which is the latest data available, 158 migrants had been repatriated, compared with 554 for the entire month last year.
