Il traffic on Italian highways it becomes intense for the departures of Ferragosto bridge. There are already several Italians who have been able to enjoy their holidays, but many others are packing their bags and still others will return from holidays. Autostrade per l'Italia has issued the calendar stamps (black, red and yellow) for those who will have to travel by car. As usual, the busiest will be the routes connecting North and South, therefore the A1 Milan-Naples and the A14 Bologna-Taranto, due to traffic that could be more intense than usual. Please note that the driving ban for heavy vehicles, with a mass greater than 7,5 tons on Friday from 16 to 22, on Saturday from 8 to 22 and on public holidays on Sunday 13 and Tuesday 15 August from 7 to 22.

Traffic forecast for Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th August

According to Autostrade per l'Italia forecasts Saturday 12 August looks critical, with a black mark in the morning and a red one in the afternoon in the direction of the main tourist locations. The situation will return to normal in the evening, with regular traffic (green dot). Those returning home, on the other hand, must expect queues and slowdowns especially in the afternoon (red dot), after a yellow dot morning.

Also for Sunday August 13 traffic will be a red dot in the morning along Italian routes: both for those going on holiday and for those returning from tourist destinations. Situation that will tend to improve in the afternoon (yellow dot) and certainly at night (green dot).

The busiest streets

The greatest concentration of cars will concern the main tourist itineraries al South: then, the A2 "Autostrada del Mediterraneo" which crosses Campania, Basilicata and Calabria; the state roads 106 Jonica and 18 lower Tirrena in Calabria; the A19 Palermo-Catania and A29 Palermo-Mazara del Vallo motorways in Sicily; the 131 Carlo Felice state road in Sardinia; the state road 148 Pontina nel Lazio, together with the SS7 Appia; the E45 itinerary (SS675 and SS3 bis) which involves Umbria, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and connects the north-east with central Italy; the SS1 Aurelia (Lazio, Tuscany and Liguria), SS16 Adriatica (Puglia, Molise, Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto) routes. Finally, in the North, the RA13 and RA14 motorway junctions in Friuli-Venezia Giulia towards the border crossings, the SS36 of Lake Como and Spluga in Lombardy, the SS45 of Val Trebbia in Liguria, the SS26 of Valle D'Aosta and the SS309 Romea between Emilia-Romagna and Veneto and the SS 51 of Alemagna in Veneto.
