Il EU court in Luxembourg rejected Microsoft's appeal for the 899 million euro fine, fined him in 2008 by the European Antitrust for not allowing competitors access on reasonable terms information relating to interoperability.
Microsoft, despite a 2004 ruling on the matter, would indeed abused its dominant position and continued, over the years, to demand disproportionate rates of remuneration to provide its documentation to competitors, effectively blocking the creation of compatible software.
The decision of the European Commission has therefore been confirmed, even if the Redmond giant has obtained a 39 million discount on the late payment penalty, reduced from 899 to 860 million euros.
