“Miart is a well-established reality, recognized at a national level and rapidly expanding in the international exhibition scene – says Corrado Peraboni, CEO of Fiera Milano -. The numerous and prestigious galleries that will take part in the event are proof of the central role that Miart plays in the art world together with Milan and, thanks to the renewed collaboration with the Municipality and the Department of Culture, will once again represent an important pole of cultural sharing. A vision - adds Peraboni - also firmly shared by the sponsors, by the partners of Miart and by the Fiera Milano Foundation, which this year offers even stronger support by doubling the contribution of the "Giampiero Cantoni" acquisition fund from 50 to 100 thousand euros " .

“Milan confirms itself as one of the most important international hubs for the enhancement of creative thinking and the ideal city for the production of contemporary art, which right here finds the fertile ground to germinate in future successes and new developments, and then become again , avant-garde – declared the Councilor for Culture Filippo Del Corno -. The city accompanies miart, such a significant moment for the world of contemporary creativity, with a program of events that widens the gaze on the main cultural initiatives in Milan, turning the spotlight on the exhibitions currently in progress, with extraordinary openings and evening events".

“For four years Miart has embarked on a precise path focusing on extreme quality – said Vincenzo de Bellis, Artistic Director of miart since 2013 -. The founding ideas of what was his new identity, and is now a reality, have always been the dialogue between artists of different generations and the internationality and internationalization of Italian art, both modern and contemporary. With the 2016 edition, the positioning of miart as a first-level event among the cultural events of the country and of Europe reaches full maturity. I am proud of the work we are carrying out, the quality of which is demonstrated by the great cohesion with all the cultural partners of the city, public and private, who in recent years have been making Milan great and to whom the miart week allows them to amplify the scope of their impact not only on the city community but also on an international public which in those days increasingly animates the city".

Miart 2016 renews and increases the close collaboration started in the last editions with all the realities that operate in the promotion and knowledge of art. In collaboration with the Municipality of Milan, miart leads the contemporary art week, the program of events, inaugurations and special openings that will involve public institutions, foundations and private galleries, starting from 5 April and for the entire duration of the fair .

A new project in collaboration with the Nicola Trussardi Foundation and FAI was also announced at the press conference.

In a sign of continuity with the three previous editions, a new cycle of miartalks will accompany the three days the fair is open to the public, created in collaboration with In Between Art Film – the production company for artist films and experimental videos founded by Beatrice Bulgari.

The bouquet of awards and acquisition funds linked to miart is consolidated. Alongside the Giampiero Cantoni Acquisition Fund of the Fiera Milano Foundation – which this year doubles, bringing the fund for acquiring modern and contemporary works of art that will make up the Fondazione Fiera Milano collection from €50.000 to €100.000 – the Emergent Award – for the best emerging gallery – the Rotary Club Milano Brera Award – for contemporary art and young artists – and the Herno Award, in collaboration with Herno SpA, which for the second year will be assigned to the stand with the best exhibition project .

The VIP program is increasingly intense, which will welcome 200 international guests including collectors, insiders and museum directors who, in addition to participating in a program of special openings during the days of the fair, will have at their disposal a series of visits to the most interesting private collections in and around the city.

The partnerships that have accompanied miart since 2013 are confirmed with the three-Michelin-star restaurant da Vittorio and the Ruinart champagne for the VIP lounge, with The Westin Palace Milan hotel for hospitality and with Moroso for the fitting out of the fair spaces. Miart 2016 will also be a showcase for the new edition of the Menabrea Art Prize. The partnership with Sky Arte HD is renewed again this year, with which Miart will create a new format that will be broadcast immediately before the fair.
