Mexico, Syria, the Pacific: Trump raises the walls

In the first three days of government, Donald Trump raised three walls, not all of concrete, but nonetheless intended to raise barriers on American borders: the exit from the TPP, the trans-Pacific agreement strongly desired by Obama; yes to the real wall with Mexico; and the stop to the entry of Syrian refugees.

Three operational orders that mark the application of the program announced during the electoral campaign. “Great day tomorrow – the new US president tweeted yesterday – for national security. Among other things, we will build the wall!”. The executive order, equivalent to a presidential decree, is therefore expected for today, Wednesday, and a directive will come with it to block the arrival of refugees from Syria, as well as from other "nations exposed to terrorism".

This is precisely the most controversial part that Trump wants to accompany in the crackdown on immigration that comes from the southern border, the one with Mexico. It is not yet clear whether the US president will cancel the Esta system which allows, through a particular online procedure, to do without an entry visa for those traveling to the United States for tourism but it will be discovered shortly.

Certainly there is the fact that Trump is working hard in the first days of his presidency: on Monday morning he canceled the free trade agreement with Asia-Pacific (TPP). Tuesday was the environment's turn, with the decision to authorize the Keystone XL and Dakota pipelines, overturning Obama's latest decisions amid protests by the Sioux. The announcement on the Wall came at the end of a day full of controversy.
