Metroweb: F2i decides on Telecom and Vodafone offers within days

“I imagine that F2i will decide how to proceed in the next few days”. The CEO is speaking Metroweb Italy, Alberto Trondoli, on the sidelines of a conference in the municipality of Milan on telecommunications, commenting on the interest in acquiring the stake in the company held by F2i, the Fund of which Cassa Depositi e Prestiti is one of the reference shareholders with a stake of 16,5%.

“It is not a matter that pertains to us but to F2i – he specified – I can confirm that expressions of interest have arrived, but we have not seen them. At the moment they are for the attention of F2i”.

Tondoli speaks in Milan while the eyes of investors, stake holders and sector operators are focused on the future of the company he leads. Metroweb is in fact at the center of two expressions of interest: that of Telecom Italy And that of Vodafone Italy, vying to win the 53,8% stake in the company currently held by the Infrastructure Investment Fund.

Un network risk which for now the government has limited itself to observing without going into the arena. However, Palazzo Chigi has set the ambitious goals that Italy wants to achieve by 2020: a national strategy that has been sent to the European Commission and that goes all the way in the direction of encouraging ultra-broadband with a base of 7 billion in public funding . In this context, Metroweb – European leader for the FTTH fiber optic network (which reaches buildings) – is confirmed as a strategic and coveted player.
