Metroweb: F2i also chooses Enel

After CdP, F2i also prefers Enel to Telecom Italia. The company's board of directors has mandated CEO Renato Ravanelli to explore possible alternatives with Enel and then report to the board – Fastweb's choice is awaited for the closing of the transaction.

Enel also conquers F2i. After the choice of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti which last May 26 decided to Frcontinue negotiations with the company managed by Francesco Starace, preferring it to Telecom, the board of directors of F2i Fondi Italiani per le Infrastrutture SGR SpA, which met on the morning of June 1st, unanimously expressed its full appreciation for the proposal made by Enel for Metroweb.

The offer from the energy giant, which expires on June 3, values Metroweb at 806 million euros and was made for a majority stake in the company.

The company would therefore be evaluating the various options open on the table. Based on what was reported by some press rumors, the possibilities being examined by the board of directors could be three: a total exit of the Fondi company from Metroweb or, alternatively, the maintenance of a shareholding. Third hypothesis: keep the entire shareholding (equal to 53,8%) and continue to operate in the ultra-broadband business, currently also at the center of the Government's interests and strategy.

As for the closing of the operation, times may not be short since Fastweb which controls 10,6% of Metroweb will also have to give the green light to the offer.

We recall that the other shareholder of Metroweb, i.e. Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, recently decided to start exclusive negotiations with Enel Open Fiber, a Fiber company controlled 100% by Enel.
