We can see the light at the end of the tunnel: that of 6 and 7 August will be a hot weekend African, but with rains coming. According to experts, the heat wave will be very intense – with peaks of 38-40 degrees in the shade – but shorter than the previous ones: the temperature they will drop first in the North, then in the Center and probably from Tuesday the South will also breathe again with some scattered rain. Therefore, cooler air is arriving, but the balance of these months, between anomalous temperatures and drought, remains quite dramatic as shown by the latest data published by the Institute of Atmospheric and Climate Sciences of the National Research Council (Isac-Cnr).

The weather forecast for August 6th

In the morning thunderstorms in the central-eastern Alps. After mid-day the storm instability will spread towards the flat areas of the whole North part with the risk of even very intense phenomena. The maximum temperatures range from 35° in Milan to 38° in Bologna.

Al Centro slightly unstable weather: in the morning mainly clear or at least cloudy. Possible scattered rains in the Apennine sectors in the afternoon. On Sardinia, good weather prevails. Maximum temperatures range from 36° in Rome to 38° in Florence.

In the morning at South clear or partly cloudy sky, with more compact cloudiness over Calabria. More likely rains along the Apennine hills in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures between 33° in Naples and 35° in Bari.

Forecasts for Sunday 7 August

Al North part possible thunderstorms, even violent, from the early hours of the morning, especially between Piedmont and Lombardy, up to the plains during the morning. Also risk of hail and gusts of wind. In the afternoon instability will be the protagonist throughout the Alps, up to the Triveneto. Temperatures will drop, with highs between 25° in Bologna and 28° in Turin and Milan.

Al Centro the sun will be the star of the morning, then in the afternoon strong thunderstorms along the Apennines, with possible encroachments on the Tyrrhenian side. In Sardinia, always clear skies. Maximum temperatures between 34° in Florence and 36° in Rome.

Al South still good prevailing weather, with some possible showers in the afternoon on the Calabrian Apennine sectors and on the inland areas of Sicily. Maximum temperatures between 32° in Palermo and 35° in Naples.

The hottest year ever: air and water, all out of the ordinary

The data of the Cnr state that the first seven months of the year project 2022 as the hottest ever: with an even higher temperature of +0,98 degrees compared to the historical average, but rainfall has also been practically halved along the peninsula with a drop of 45%. Just concluded July recorded a +2,26 degrees above the Italian average since 1800 (since the data were collected).

The most evident climatic anomaly this year occurred in the summer with the month of June which recorded an average temperature well +2,88 degrees higher than the average on values ​​close to the maximum recorded in 2003.

On 10 May one of the worst and longest hot phases of recent years began for Italy. Well five African heat waves have invested our country without significant interruptions, with temperatures close to or above 40 degrees in the shade: we are warmer than some areas of Morocco, we have a scorching sea almost like the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf. Not to forget the freezing point which reached 5 meters and which has been steadily positioned at 4.800 meters since mid-July, bringing positive temperature values ​​also to Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe.
