Weather: weekend between thunderstorms in the North and heat in the South

The fresh North Atlantic currents arrive in our country. The last weekend of August will see a completely different weather for Italy: thunderstorms and violent storms in the North, tropical temperatures in the Centre-South.

In this last weekend of August, summer will suffer a severe blow in a large part of the Peninsula, which will determine a first step towards autumn, made up of bad weather and falling temperatures. Let's see where the umbrella or parasol will be used in the coming weekend.

Everything will start between Friday and Saturday when a vast and incisive North Atlantic trough will enter our country, with a sharp drop in temperature. The bad weather would particularly affect the North, which will be crossed by scattered showers and thunderstorms, at times violent, especially in a large part of the Po Valley, Alpine areas, Lombardy and in eastern Liguria.

In the rest of Italy the weather will be more or less stable at least for the first part of the day, then some showers will also reach upper Tuscany in the afternoon, probably marking the end of summer for these regions. Instead, in the South you will still be able to enjoy the good weather, thanks to the reinforcement of the winds from Scirocco and Libeccio (with peaks up to 36-38°).

Even the day of Sunday it will be gray for the North, especially for the reliefs where strong storms and storms will most likely be recorded. Contrary to Saturday, the weather will be drier in the Po Valley, while some thunderstorms will advance towards the central regions, such as Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, northern Lazio and probably Emilia Romagna as well.

Not only bad weather for the North but also drastically dropping temperatures, so much so as to favor the arrival of snow in the Alps (around 2000-2300m), especially in the central-western ones.

In Sicily and in the extreme south it is still very hot, at least until Tuesday, however, in the evening too Sardinia will be invaded by a probable deterioration, with a drop in temperatures and very rough seas, a prelude to a new phase of bad weather starting from Monday.
