After an initial phase of bad weather that has already affected the whole area since Wednesday, it is expected a black friday, caused by a low pressure vortex coming from France, and by a bad perturbation, characterized by incessant rains and copious snowfalls, with a serious risk of avalanches, on the Alps. Let's see in detail the affected areas.
In the first part of Thursday, the Northwest will be the protagonist of the most intense phase of the bad weather: intense rains will hit, above all the central and western sectors of Liguria, together with lower Piedmont, while the snow will fall abundantly on all the respective areas alpine. in Liguria it is a real emergency with floods and landslides especially in the provinces of Imperia and Savona.
Of particular concern is Friday, when a cyclonic vortex will hit Italy: the snowfalls will become increasingly intense, first in Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta, then they will spread over the rest of the Alps. The situation will worsen over the weekend with the snow level around 1000/1100 meters in the central-western Alps and 1300 in the eastern ones and in the Dolomites.
As for Saturday, the news is not positive at the moment. Bad weather will continue to negatively affect the start of the weekend for the whole country. In addition, heavy rains increase the risk of flooding, resulting in possible flooding and disruption to traffic.
Not only Northern Italy will be hit by a wave of bad weather. Clouds and rains will also affect various areas of the Center-South, especially for Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, Sardinia, Sicily and Calabria, where showers are expected to arrive, even of a stormy nature, especially in the lower Tyrrhenian area. In addition, the reinforcement of the Sirocco winds will increase the possibility of storms, with waves up to 7 meters, along the exposed coasts.
Possible improvements are foreseen, however, for the day on Sunday, with improvements throughout the territory, with a little sun for Northern Italy, with the exception of the Alpine sectors where the protagonists will still be clouds and snow, and for the Centre, especially on the coasts.
