Weather: 40 degree temperatures, fires. Italy and Europe enveloped in a wave of extreme heat

Torrid heat from Spain to England, from Milan to London. Europe is crossed by an African heat that spares no one. London is preparing to touch 40 degrees and the Met office, the British weather center, issued the first Red Extreme heat warning (extreme red heat warning) of history.

Weather: extreme temperatures in England, France, Spain

Same story in France. The orange alarm has already gone off in 37 departments Weather surveillance France , the French national weather center, warns that it is necessary to use caution because the forecasts indicate a possible temperature of 40 degrees in more than one city at least until Tuesday when a reduction in temperatures is expected, with a shift from the North West to the East.

The heat has already hit hard is Spain, with peaks of 45 degrees, and Portugal, with temperatures of 47 in the town of Pinaho. The question shouldn't be underestimated at all because the heat is harmful to health and the Istituto Superiore di Sanità Carlos III has already counted the first deaths: there would be 360 deaths from this appalling heat wave between 10 and 15 July, with a peak of 123 deaths last Friday.

Weather: in Italy prepare for boiling heat from mid-week

Europe is therefore dealing with extreme heat and the associated risks for public health but also with the side effects associated with fires. It's Italy? The emergency should also arrive in Italy. The latest bulletin of the Ministry of Health, which dates back to last Friday, attributed the red dot to only two cities: Florence and Perugia. “For the time being after a taste of intense heat especially in the North, the slight pressure drop caused by a depression on the Baltic Sea guarantees us a low heat loss and even some thunderstorms that will affect the Alpine areas and also the central Apennines at times. A hot weekend therefore but not extreme and with some hints of instability in the afternoon on some of our regions, but we will not always be so lucky”, explains the meteo3B meteorologist.

The African anticyclone that is dominating Northern Europe could in fact unload on Italy from Wednesday onwards, with extreme peaks around Thursday-Friday. Forecasts indicate temperatures over 40 degrees in the Po Valley, but also in Umbria and Lazio. Among the hottest cities Milano, Pavia, Cremona, Mantova, Piacenza, Parma, Bologna, Ferrara, Padua and Verona. In Central Italy the cities most at risk should be Florence, perugia, Tarnished, Orvieto. Paradoxically it will be better in the South where 40 degrees could only be reached in the Tavoliere in Puglia. On the other hand, in the face of "lower" temperatures, the sultry climate will in any case make everyday life difficult in the large cities of the Tyrrhenian coast such as Napoli, Trapani, Palermo, Messina, Cosenza.

The level of risk increases and one must protect oneself and protect children and the elderly. Read here the advice of the Ministry of Health on the behaviors to be adopted to defend oneself.

In this uninspiring picture, fires could not be missing. There Civil protection, on Saturday, reported "17 requests for aerial competition received by the Unified Air Operations Center (COAU) of the Department, of which 4 from Lazio, 4 from Sicily, 3 from Calabria, 2 from the Autonomous Province of Trento, 2 from Sardinia, one each from Umbria and Abruzzo”. Scattered fires are reported throughout Italy.
