A cold since late November. This is what is hitting Italy these days, especially in the North: after a few days of sun and mild weather, the rains are back and temperatures drop almost to winter levels, well below the norm for the period. In fact, a perturbation arrives from the North Atlantic that is overwhelming the Center-North on Sunday, and then moves south on Monday. The mass of Arctic air brings not only bad weather but a significant drop in temperatures, first in the North but at the beginning of the week also in the South, as well as a lot of wind over almost the whole country.
In Trieste the strong bora forced the organizers to cancel the historic Barcolana sailing regatta: it is the first time this has happened.
A temporary and partial improvement is looming in the North on Monday and widely on Tuesday, with large reassurances since the morning especially in the central-northern regions. Seas still very rough, especially the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Centre-South. A new disturbed area will enter the western Mediterranean on Wednesday, giving rise to a more incisive worsening in the North-West, in Sardinia and in the Tyrrhenian peninsular regions starting from Campania. In the following hours the disturbance will probably bring precipitation to the North-East regions as well. Snowfall in the Alps up to altitudes of 1400-1800 meters.
