Weather: snow in Milan and Turin, alarm in Liguria and Tuscany

The bad weather that hit Northern Europe in recent days has reached Italy. From today, Monday 11 December, the weather signals snow in Milan and Turin. Inconveniences are foreseen for railway traffic, especially local.

A Milano the first flakes of this winter have fallen and over half a meter of snow has accumulated in Valle d'Aosta in just a few hours. All of this complicated the return from the Immaculate Conception bridge, with severe slowdowns on the Brenner motorway and inconvenience in many areas. In Lombardia attention continues for the evolution of bad weather. A generic alert has in fact been issued even if the weather predicts rain, which should reduce possible inconvenience.

A Torino between 3 and 6 centimeters of snow should fall this morning in the plains and between 5 and 10 centimeters in the hills. In southern Piedmont the risks are even greater, because the rain could freeze and form ice sheets on the roads. In some towns in the Cuneo and Alessandria areas, it has been decided to close the schools. The ARPA confirmed a yellow alert for the whole region for today due to the widespread rainfall expected until the early hours of tomorrow.

Weather alarm also in Liguria, with canceled trains and suspended lines. A train on the Milan-Nice line was stopped for hours in the province of Genoa due to ice on the tracks and on the power line. There were about 400 people on board, who were assisted by the Civil Protection. The train was taken to Genoa. Bad weather also caused two trees to fall on two cars in Genoa and in the province of Prato.

As in Piedmont, schools closed today also in some areas of Liguria and Tuscany. In the province of Florence the provision concerns the territories of Calenzano, Campi, Capraia and Limite, Cerreto Guidi, Empoli, Fucecchio, Montelupo Fiorentino, Sesto Fiorentino, Signa and Vinci. It is a red code linked to hydraulic and hydrogeological risk.
