Weather: polar cold until Saturday, truce for Epiphany

The polar cold has arrived in Italy. So goodbye, at least for the next few days, to the almost spring-like climate that characterized the Christmas holidays and also New Year's Day: the high pressure of the Azores is moving towards Western Europe, leaving room on Italy for imposing masses of arctic air that will already cause today, Wednesday 2 January, a very strong thermal drop of 10°C, especially in the central-southern regions. The climate will obviously be polar also in the North, both during the day, despite the sun, but above all at night, when the ice will be the master. On Thursday 3 January the minimum in Milan will reach -4 degrees, in Trento even -12, with the maximum at -3. Temperatures below zero a little everywhere from North to South, with snowfalls expected above all in the Centre-South, also in the plains especially in Puglia and Abruzzo, while the rains will prevail on the Calabria and Sicily side. In the North and on the Tyrrhenian side, however, the sun will continue to prevail.

The same scenario is expected on Friday 4, with temperatures dropping further and snowfall intensifying, especially in the Centre-South. In the North it will be very cold but with a prevalence of good weather. Polar weather also on Saturday 5 January, while a truce is currently foreseen for the Epiphany: there will be sun almost everywhere, apart from some isolated rain, and temperatures will rise again, especially in Rome and in the South where they will once again exceed 10 degrees in the maximum.
