Weather alert for bad weather in Northern and Central Italy, while Sicily is dealing with a serious fire.

The weather forecast speaks of heavy rains arriving in the central-northern territories. For this reason, the Civil Protection has issued a warning of adverse weather conditions in various regions.

"A perturbation of Atlantic origin - writes the Civil Protection Department - has reached our northern regions and Tuscany, giving rise to intense phenomena mainly thunderstorms. From the early hours of tomorrow (today, ed) the rains will tend to extend to part of the Centre, especially on the Tyrrhenian areas, with a reinforcement of the southern winds close to the central-northern Apennine sectors".

The notice provides for the persistence of scattered to widespread rainfall, mainly downpours or thunderstorms, in Piedmont, Liguria, Lombardy, the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany. Precipitation will be frequent and abundant in all Alpine and pre-Alpine sectors, central-eastern Liguria and upper Tuscany.

Furthermore, from the early hours of Sunday, scattered precipitations are expected, mainly downpours or thunderstorms, over Umbria and Lazio, extending to the Marches, and strong to stormy winds from the southern quadrants over Emilia-Romagna and the Marches. The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, local hailstorms and strong gusts of wind.

Meanwhile, a vast fire broke out in Altofonte, in the Palermo area, where the mayor has asked residents to leave their homes. According to initial indications, there would have been five different fires, the origin of which will be investigated. Various fire brigade teams, civil protection personnel and the Carabinieri are intervening on the spot.

“The situation is very serious, all the citizens who live under the woods, including the Campo Vecchio area, Cozzo di Castro, Corso Piano Renda, must leave. The flames and incandescent ash can cause fires even in the inhabited center. Everyone, get away from your homes. Go down to the valley of the village. Right away". This is the appeal launched on Facebook by the mayor of Altofonte, Angela De Luca.
