Weather: heat alert in ten cities – THE MAP

The African heat wave is still keeping the entire peninsula in check, and will do so at least until Monday, when a low Atlantic pressure will bring some thunderstorms and cool weather, at least in the North. It is precisely the North – and a part of the Center – that is most affected by the heat, which will reach record peaks over the weekend.

According to the heatwave bulletin, published by the Ministry of Health, in fact, between Saturday and Sunday a "level 3 - red" of heat is expected in ten cities. The ministry reports "emergency conditions" due to excessive heat, "with possible negative effects on the health of healthy and active people and not only on subgroups at risk such as the elderly, very young children and people with chronic diseases".

For Saturday the red dot is foreseen a Bologna, Bolzano, Brescia, Perugia and Turin; on Sunday instead alert for Ancona, Campobasso, Florence, Perugia and Pescara.

The last two weeks have been the hottest of the year: Italy was in fact affected by the arrival of an African anticyclone, full of humidity, which between extreme temperatures and a water emergency triggered the drought alarm in many cities.

The government has therefore decided the state of emergency in the provinces of Parma and Piacenza, while in Sardinia a state of calamity was requested. The Po river is reduced to little more than a trickle of just 13 centimeters 30 kilometers from its source, when it leaves the mountains to open up to the Cuneo plain.

For the Capital instead it is assumed the water rationing, for example with the closure of the service in certain time slots. Meanwhile, mayor Virginia Raggi has signed an ordinance to limit its use for gardens, swimming pools and car washes until September.
