Contract for metalworkers, Fim Cisl: "Enough alibi"

The general secretary of Fim-Cisl, Roberto Benaglia, goes on the attack: “Federmeccanica is stopped 4 years ago, but the country needs to restart. The theme of wages is complex, it is not enough to adjust it to inflation” – Then the decision of all the acronyms: “Strike of the category on November 5th”.

Contract for metalworkers, Fim Cisl: "Enough alibi"

It is now open war on the renewal of the metalworkers' contract, which has now expired for a year. Confindustria has made it known through the words of the president Carlo Bonomi that the increases requested by the unions are "unthinkable", while the tug of war of the category representatives with Federmeccanica continues. The last jab is from the general secretary of Fim Cisl Roberto Benaglia (here the recent interview with FIRSTonline), who accuses entrepreneurs of “being stuck 4 years ago. The country needs to restart, there is a need for an attitude that does not find alibis, but solutions. The contract must be built so that the solutions are certain and usable. Today the greatest guarantee we can give to companies and workers is to renew the contract. The rules must not be a suffocating border, but the ground within which the social partners must find adequate answers and perspectives”, said the union leader in a statement.

The previous contract, according to Benaglia, gave solutions, but today having a contract that gives certainties cannot be answered in the ex-post inflation adjustment system, in the final balance: "We cannot only deal with minimums, the issue of wages is broader and more complex". The leader of Fim Cisl, who took office last July, then extended his hand to Federmeccanica: "I welcome Ferdermeccanica's willingness to think about how to extend the second level of bargaining, but sustainable and concrete solutions must be found within the contract. This is why we have made a proposal for a reform of the equalization element that will give answers in this direction. On the subject of welfare, we propose to extend the flexible benefit method based on a common platform for managing this important tool in an effective and transparent manner".

Finally, on the theme of young people: “It is also useful provide all young people with supplementary pensions. The work done up to now has certainly been useful, but we need to go deeper into the merits, starting to think about texts that we have not yet seen and, already today, with respect to the distances we are recording, we need to understand how to proceed in the negotiations". After the umpteenth clash, the unions called 6 hours of agitation for November 5th: there will be a four-hour strike in all establishments, while two hours will be devoted to the assemblies.
