Metalworkers, the contract made: 92 euro monthly increase

White smoke for the most important employment contract in the industry: average monthly increase of 92 euros and a one-off payment of 80 euros – The innovative approach of Marco Bentivogli's Fim-Cisl, based not only on salary but on the expansion of company bargaining also for small and medium-sized companies and on corporate welfare, has dragged the whole category to the finish line, also convincing Landini's Fiom-Cgil to sign

Metalworkers, the contract made: 92 euro monthly increase

White smoke for the 2016-2019 national contract for metalworkers, the most important in the whole industry. The agreement between the unions and Federmeccanica was reached today after months of negotiations. The innovative setting of Marco Bentivogli's Fim-Cisl won, managing to drag the whole category to the contractual agreement before the referendum of 4 December. After many years with Aventino, he also signed Maurizio Landini's Fiom-Cgil who risked going down in history as the only Fiom secretary who had never managed to stipulate a national contract.

The main novelties of the agreement are the development of company bargaining also for small and medium-sized industries and corporate welfare.

Here are the main points of the new contract:

INFLATION: it will be returned ex post, halfway through the year following the one in which it occurred.

SALARY AND ONE-TIME: the monthly average will be 92 euros plus a one-off payment of 80 euros.

TRAINING: the right of every worker to 24 hours of training per year will be recognised, with an average increase of 92,67 euros per year.

WELFARE: 100 euros in 2017, 150 in 2018 and 200 in 2019 for each metalworker to spend on welfare (from shopping vouchers to healthcare, social security and book vouchers). In particular, each worker will receive a monthly average of 19 euros of corporate welfare.

ABSORPTION: seniority increases and those for night work will not be absorbed into the basic salary but many other items will.
