Germany's reception policy will not change after the terrorist attacks carried out by refugees on German soil. Chancellor Angela Merkel assures this, underlining that the country "remains faithful to its principles and will give shelter to those who deserve it". Merkel then said that the refugees who committed violence "made a mockery of the country from which they received help and volunteers and who gave them refuge from war zones".
Eleven months ago “I said that Germany was a strong country – continued Merkel -. We have done many things and today I still think we will make it. I didn't say it would be easy, but we will succeed in this challenge. We are facing a historical test in the time of globalization. We've done a lot in the last eleven months. We will face the new challenge of Islamic terror and we will overcome it: we will apply the necessary measures, we will make it clear that we want to give security to our citizens and we want to dominate the integration issue and overcome it".
The chancellor then condemned the violence in Wurzburg and Ansbach as "actions of Islamic terror, terrible, oppressive and depressing attacks. Attacks that break every rule of civilization conducted in places where each of us could be. The authorities will do everything possible to clarify ”.
Merkel then presented a nine-point plan for security after the violence in Bavaria. Among the new arrivals is a lowering of the obstacles for the expulsion of asylum seekers, an "early warning system" on radicalization among refugees and the possibility of army intervention following major terrorist attacks. “We must act to fill the gaps that exist”, reiterated the chancellor.
