The financial information agency Mergermarket passes from the English group Pearson, the one that publishes the Financial Times, to the BC Partners funds, an international private equity company. Cost of the operation: 458 million euros in cash.
Mergermarket, specialized in financial information, analysis and intelligence for consultancies, law firms, investment banks, private equity firms, hedge funds and multinationals, was founded in 1999. It is present in 65 countries worldwide and its portfolio it has products like Mergermarket, Debtwire, DealReporter, Infinata, Wealthmonitor and Xtract Research.
BC Partners intends to support the growth of the company by developing products and services. “Mergermarket is a high quality company and a market leader with an attractive business model and loyal customers – commented Nikos Stathopuolos, managing partner of BC Partners – We now want to work with CEO Hamilton Matthews and the whole team to expand towards new geographical areas”.
Pearson said it plans to use the proceeds from this sale to make investments in education, digital education and emerging markets.
