Melfi, Fiom beats Fiat: the 3 fired workers reinstated

La Court of Appeal of Potenza has ordered Fiat to reinstate in the plant of Melfi Giovanni Barozzino, Antonio Lamorte and Marco Pignatelli, two of whom are Fiom delegates. The three workers had been fired by the company in July 2010 on charges of having blocked a trolley during a strikethus stopping production. The appeal presented by the metalworkers' union was therefore upheld.

On August 9, 2010, a sentence by judge Emilio Minio reinstated the three workers in Fiat, branding the company's conduct as anti-union. But in July 2011 it was overturned in favor of Lingotto. Today new twist, but Fiat has already announced that it intends to appeal to the Supreme Court

"However, the company is keen to underline that it considers behaviors such as those of the three workers to be unacceptable and that it will continue its actions to prevent similar conduct from happening again."
