The remuneration of executive directors of Anas, Rai and Ferrovie cannot exceed 294 thousand euros, while for the other 18 companies controlled by the MEF, the remuneration of top management will be set at 80% or 50% of the salary of the first president of the Cassation . The squeeze on the salaries of public managers it is envisaged by the draft decree of the Ministry of the Economy just sent to the Chambers for their opinion.

The regulation of emoluments is contained in the "Scheme decree of the Minister of Economy and Finance relating to the remuneration for directors with proxies of companies controlled by the Ministry of Economy and Finance" sent to the Chamber on 10 September last and currently at the attention of the Budget Committee, which will have to give its opinion by 30 September. The outline of the Ministerial Decree was prepared by the Ministry of the Economy in implementation of Legislative Decree 201/2011 (law 214/2011), better known as “Maneuver Monti” or “Save Italy”, which provides for the "classification by brackets on the basis of quantitative and qualitative dimensional indicators of unlisted companies", directly controlled by the ministry and "the determination, for each bracket, of the maximum compensation to which the Boards of Directors of the companies must refer, according to objective and transparent criteria, for the determination of the fees to be paid".

The identified indicators are the value of production (greater than or equal to 1 billion, 100 million or less than one hundred million), investments (greater than or equal to 500 million, greater than or equal to 1 million, less than one million) e number of employees (greater than or equal to 5.000, 500 or less than 500). The fees for the managers will be determined by the boards in compliance with the ceilings established by the decree, which will apply "to the total amount of the fees to be paid, including the variable part where applicable" for the fees due "to the managing director, or to the chairman, if the same is the only member of the BoD to whom proxies have been assigned”.
