Mediolanum, Doris: "Ready to buy 10%"

The founder of the Bank: "I hope that the stake that Fininvest will have to sell will remain with the Berlusconi family" – "I have instructed my lawyers to carefully study how much I could buy without triggering the takeover bid, even if I already hold control. I don't want to cause the delisting. If I can, I'll go just below 50%”.

Mediolanum, Doris: "Ready to buy 10%"

Ennio Doris is ready to buy 10% of Mediolanum from Fininvest, or about half of the share that the holding is forced to sell within 30 months. As for the rest, the founder of the bank hopes it will remain in the hands of the Berlusconi family.

“We have to wait for the decision that Fininvest will take in the next Board of Directors – Doris told Radiocor -. Meanwhile, the trust solution seems right to me. In any case, I hope that the share that Fininvest will have to sell will remain with the Berlusconi family. If Fininvest were to sell shares on the market, a queue of people would be created and I would also be in line, although I do not need further shares to manage the company, having 40% of the shares".

The entrepreneur could go just under 50%: “I have instructed my lawyers to carefully study how much I could buy without triggering the takeover bid, even though I already hold control. I don't want to cause the delisting, given that the quotation is positive for a banking group. I'll push myself if I can just under 50%".

According to the incremental takeover bid regulations, Doris could buy no more than 5% over a 12-month period. As for the dissolution of the pact, Doris cut it short: “Nothing changes. Fininvest had a control function, not a management one, and the Doris family already owns 40% and therefore already manages the company. The market immediately thought that shares equal to 20% of the capital were about to arrive on the market and therefore sold. But as soon as clarity is made, the stock will recover”.

At the beginning of the afternoon, the Mediolanum stock dropped 2,7%, a 5,02 euro.
