Mediobanca, profit growing and dividend above expectations at 47 cents

The dividend that will be proposed to the shareholders' meeting is up by 27% compared to last year's 0,37 euro – As regards the operating result, the bank points out that the target set by the business plan for 2019 has already been achieved.

Mediobanca closed the 2017-2018 financial year with a net profit of 864 million, up 15,2% compared to the previous year. The balance, underlines a note, marks record values ​​for revenues (+10% to 2,4 billion) and operating profit (+24% to 1,06 billion), with a return on tangible capital of 10%. The numbers are higher than analysts' expectations, which stopped at 840 million for net income, 2,39 billion for revenues and 1,015 billion for operating profit.

The dividend is also above forecasts which will be proposed to the shareholders' meeting: 0,47 euro per share, up 27% compared to 0,37 euro last year and against expectations for 0,45 euro. The payout is equal to 48% against the plan forecasts initially set at 40% and recently revised upwards between 40% and 50%. As regards the operating result, the institute signals that the target set by the industrial plan for 2019 has already been achieved. In terms of capital solidity, the Cet1 coefficient rose by 36 basis points compared to the third quarter at 14,2%.

At the opening of the session, the Mediobanca stock gained around 1%, approaching 9 euro per share, in a session, the first of the month of August, in which the new US duties lurking the markets are worrying: the Ftse Mib in fact opened in negative territory, after yesterday's good performance.
