The hypothesis of a new foreign shareholder of group C of the Mediobanca pact would seem to have "completely waned". This is what sources close to the shareholders of the Piazzetta Cuccia institute report. Last autumn, on the occasion of Groupama's exit from group C of foreign shareholders, Vincent Bollorè had announced the arrival of a new international partner whose name would be announced by the end of 2013.
At the next meeting of the Mediobanca pact, set for 19 February to coincide with the presentation of the institution's half-yearly accounts, it is also expected that Bollorè will formalize the request to increase Mediobanca's share capital from 6 to 8%, as the the French financier and industrialist himself had announced in recent months.
Meanwhile, the discussion between Bankitalia and Mediobanca continues on the new governance rules that the central bank is developing. This was reported today by the vice president of the institute, Dieter Rampl, after today's extraordinary board meeting. “We are still working on governance. Bankitalia is still reflecting, there is a dialogue, an exchange of views. The process is still ongoing – it's a work in progress,” said Rampl.
In the early afternoon Mediobanca lost almost 2% a Business Square a 7,095 euro.
