Philips, made the results public Future Health Index 2019, an international study conducted on 15 countries around the world to accelerate the transition towards increasingly sustainable healthcare models, based on value and supported by connected technologies.

The investigation focuses on the role that the digital health technology plays in improving both the patient care experience and that of healthcare professionals.

A picture emerges that sees our country in first place in Europe and among the first in the world for the use of digital technologies by health professionals - 88% of these in fact declare that they have used digital health technology or apps in the own hospital or practice – but still lagging behind in terms of data sharing, electronic medical records and telemedicine.

Italian patients declare themselves eager to have access to their health data. 76% of those who don't have or don't know they have access to the electronic medical record declare that they want it. And they are ready to share them, while those who already do are more proactive and involved in managing their health.

La electronic medical record it is only used by 57% of professionals. To slow down its greater diffusion, the perception by some operators of negative impact on your workload and time spent with patients.

Nonetheless, the survey revealed that professionals who use electronic health records recognize its positive impact on their job satisfaction, the quality of services provided and clinical outcomes.

Italy also marks time in terms of telemedicine, with as many as 4 out of 10 health professionals declaring that they have never used it. Yet, this tool could be of great use in solving one of the problems most felt by Italian patients, that of waiting time for visits.
