Mediaset-Vivendi: it's a war of accusations and press releases

The war continues to the sound of press releases between Vivendi and Mediaset.

The Cologno Monzese group reacts very harshly to the note (defined as "irritual") released today by the French giant in which the company led by Vincent Bolloré specified that "the dispute with Mediaset concerns the Mediaset Premium business plan" . So the mystery has been revealed: it would be the industrial plan, according to what was declared by Vivendi, the cause of the surprise turnaround announced three days ago.

In particular, according to the analysis of the transalpine company, the business plan which envisages the achievement of the operational balance of Mediaset Premium since 2018, is based "on unrealistic hypotheses", as confirmed by the consultant Deloitte at the beginning of June. According to Deloitte, “The Mediaset Premium business plan appears unattainable and would need to be revised seriously downwards to be realistic,” the press release said.

A note spread today in open markets. A timetable that infuriated Mediaset even more, already intending to sue. Il Biscione has decided to respond in kind, noting that the diffusion of considerations such as those contained in the Vivendi press release, defined as "of a totally subjective and instrumental nature", can alter the normal Stock Exchange price of the Mediaset share. Therefore, according to the company they would be contrary to current legislation. “Vivendi will also be liable in civil and criminal proceedings for these damages,” the press release reads.

It should be emphasized that, on Piazza Affari, Mediaset shares suffered a real crash, closing today's session down by 8,33% to 2,712 euros.

As for Mediaset Premium's business plan, the company adds, “it had been in Vivendi's possession since the beginning of March 2016, more than a month before the signing of the binding agreement. So much so that the French company's analysis of its contents contributed significantly to the definition of the terms and conditions of the contract signed on the following 8 April”.
