Mediaset: possible joint venture with ITV to control Endemol

Control of Endemol, the Dutch group that produces television formats such as Big Brother, could pass into the hands of Mediaset and the British group ITV. The British newspaper Telegraph has announced that a joint venture could be created between the Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi's television giant and ITV. This could therefore be the solution to the Endemol case, the group owned by Mediaset, Goldman Sachs and Cyrte Funds (with shares respectively equal to 33%), on which weigh 2 billion in debt. For its part, ITV, through the agreement with Mediaset, could differentiate its business into segments not necessarily linked to advertising revenues, taking advantage of the Dutch broadcaster's 80 subsidiaries in 31 different countries.

The shareholders are now discussing the restructuring of Endemol and the reorganization of the Group which will lead to a change in management, also necessary considering that, after the resignation of CEO Ynon Kreiz in early June, the company does not have a CEO. A return of the founder John De Mol (inventor of Big Brother) in the role of president or CEO is also possible. For now, neither ITV nor Cologno Monzese have confirmed the rumors.
