Mediaset on the rise with advertising and radio

Mediaset raises its head in Piazza Affari, after the weakness of the last few sessions. THE titles of the Biscione achieved an increase of 4,8% settling at 3,64 euros at the end of the morning.

Data on radio advertising sales, a business in which the group has recently entered, favor purchase orders. In the background there is still speculation on the fact that Mediaset could in some way become part of a large project that brings the telecommunications and broadcasting companies together, especially after the takeover of the French Vivendi in Telecom Italia.

The FCP-Assoradio Observatory noted a 5,9% growth in overall advertising revenue for the radio market in February to 25,684 million euro. Paolo Salvaderi, President of FCP-Assoradio commented: “Faced with a market that appears to be recovering at the beginning of the year, the radio medium continues to grow also in terms of advertising sales. In fact, in February the plus sign returns after the physiological decline in January, preceded by thirteen months of uninterrupted progress. The turnover monitored by the FCP-Assoradio Observatory shows an increase of +5,9% on last year and +16,8% on 2014. The overall balance for the first two months shows an increase of +1,8% on 2015. Further evidence of the dynamism of the medium the news announced in recent days relating to the measurement of audience "

Last September Mediaset acquired control of Monradio (Radio 101 and television channel R101TV) from the parent company Fininvest. RTI (Mediaset group) will also purchase indirect control of Finelco, the holding company that owns Radio 105, RMC Radio Montecarlo and Virgin Radio.

On 10 February, the Antitrust launched an investigation into the entire operation to verify whether this merger would create or strengthen a dominant position in the radio advertising sales market such as to eliminate or substantially and lastingly reduce competition. The proceeding must be concluded within forty-five days from the date of the resolution of the provision (i.e. from 10 February).
