Mediaset, Confalonieri: "It will be tough against Vivendi"

"It will be tough, but we will defend ourselves." Thus the president of Mediaset, Fedele Confalonieri, commented on the Vivendi affair.

The "defense", however, "will not be easy", the president would have underlined, because Vivendi represents an "insidious" opponent and because the French move, with the purchase of 12,3% of the capital of Cologno Monzese, will force Mediaset of having to beware not only of external competition, ie from other television groups, “but also from within the company itself. It's a difficult situation, it's going to be tough,” Confalonieri said.

Fininvest presented a complaint for market manipulation against the French to the Milan prosecutor's office and in turn bought shares, rising to 38,2% of the capital (39,7% of the voting rights).

Meanwhile, Mediaset's share on the Stock Exchange continues its triumphal march: in the early afternoon it gained 5,08%, after yesterday's +32%.
